Do you know about the “CHIBOJI”? I bought mine about four years ago when it started trending on Amazon. I’m a heavy user and still use it today!
Why I bought it
I first saw CHIBOJI on Instagram. A parenting influencer was talking about it. At first, I just thought, “Oh, that’s interesting.” However, when my son was two, he had a cold for six months. He was coughing and had a runny nose every day. I got exhausted from taking him to the clinic daily just to get his nose cleared.
I thought about buying an electric nasal aspirator,
but they are expensive…. and have so many parts to clean.
That’s when CHIBOJI became my top choice. A famous manual nasal aspirator from Taiwan that can be used from birth.
How it feels to use
To be honest, I started using it with thinking, “Is it really as good as the reviews say!?”
At first, I thought, “Wait, is this even working? The reviews were a lie! I wasted my money!”
BUT!!
After I actually read the manual (this is important!) and tried different angles while pulling the lever firmly…
Oh my goodness, it cleared so much snot!
I was shocked at how well it worked. It was actually satisfying to see!
Caution: If you get too excited and pump too much, the mucus can flow back into the tube!
Since then, I’ve been a loyal fan. It was a lifesaver when my kids had RSV, and even just three weeks ago when both of them had terrible runny noses.
It’s affordable, effective, has few parts, and you only need to wash the nose bottle. I love it!
Tips for success
- The angle: Check the manual and try different angles.
- The speed: The suction power changes depending on how fast you pull the lever.
- The connection: Make sure the connection between the hose and the bottle is facing up.
For my kids, a 90-degree angle or tilting it slightly to the side works best.
How to clean it
It’s incredibly easy! Just wash the nose bottle with water and let it dry.
The official website recommends using dish soap at the end of the day. (I wasn’t doing that… 🙄).
If you are worried about germs, you can sanitize the bottle and tube with sterilizing liquid like Milton.
Dealing with backflow
If you use CHIBOJI, you will probably experience “backflow” at least once.
In my case, it happens when I get greedy, let the bottle get too full, and keep pumping the lever hard. 😅
The best solution is to empty it often.
I recommend emptying it even sooner than the official manual suggests.
This is because when the bottle starts to fill up, you might get a lot of snot at once, which can cause it to backflow.😱
Cleaning the tube is a pain, so it’s better to empty the bottle frequently! When the nose is really runny, I just wipe the snot out with a tissue instead of washing it every time.
Why drying is so important: If you use it while there are water droplets in the tube, they can get into the main pump. The pump has lubricant inside to keep the lever smooth. If you wipe the inside of the pump to dry it, you might wipe away the lubricant too! You can fix it by applying a little cooking oil, but that’s a hassle. To keep it working smoothly for a long time, try your best to keep the pump dry.
Nowadays, there are many similar products out there. However, CHIBOJI is the world’s first vacuum pump nasal aspirator! I highly recommend trying the original CHIBOJI. It’s a lifesaver!

If backflow happens: You have to remove the tube and bottle and wash them both. The problem is that you have to dry the tube completely. I tried wrapping kitchen paper around a thin stick, but it almost got stuck.I tried a hairdryer, but the water droplets stayed inside. If you decide you love CHIBOJI, I highly recommend buying a spare set of the tube and nose bottle.
